After working with Hank McCoy on a robotics project involving an automated squidlike fishing machine, Forge recreated the design on a smaller scale to create a twelve-inch-long robotic squid, covered in pink plush fabric. He gifted Catseye with the small robot, which was immediately dubbed "Minisquid".
On various occasions, Minisquid's limited artificial intelligence would cause minor incidents of amusement, often resulting in someone (in one notable case, Professor Charles Xavier) wearing the small robot like a hat.
When Catseye left the mansion in 2006, her robotic companion went with her, and came back with her when she returned to complete her education.
