There was nothing worse than seeing those you cared about suffering, if it was just a bad day, a cold or their powers actively trying to kill everyone around them, what was worse was there really wasn't anything that Scott could do to change it. He wished he had a magic wand that he could wave to make all of it go away, to magic his brother better. But, sadly, he hadn't been gifted with that particular power. All he could do was take care of him, pressing a cup of lemon and honey tea into his hand as he settled down next to him.

Kevin had disappeared at some point during that discussion, but she saw him now at dinner, talking intently with Stacy about something. She gave him a grin and wiggle of fingers as she caught his eye, settling at a table with a few of the other book club members, and was soon drawn into a lively conversation with everyone.

"Take a sip of that, it'll help you feel better."
+
Kevin gave her a short wave, but she seemed to be largely drawn into talking with the staff, which was alright. After a couple of days of rest and food, he felt like his old self, and that right back to work. And back to work in this case meant Stacy.

Alex chuckled weakly, taking the cup. "Is it magic tea?"
+
"I'm not asking you to drop your business model. But... things are getting bad. This shop has gotten major upgrades over the last year, but I still need every advantage I can find."

"I mean, it's hot and it has honey in it. So, it's an old wives' tale at best, does that make it magic?" The older man looked down and breathed in, savouring the smell of the hot liquid, "It smells good if nothing else."
+
"That you can find? I swear, Syd, you are the least charming most charming person I know. How you made it work at the CIA I'll never know." She smirked at him.

"Besides, with all the weirdness we've already had today, do you really want to get magic involved?" This was from Nica, who had been watching the brothers from a simulated arm chair she'd curled up in. She was still glowing brightly from the energy she'd absorbed - and was still absorbing - from Alex - and her expression was kind of wistful. "Also, snot and fever and whatever else aside, you two are adorable. I just thought I'd say that."
+
"Yeah, you do."

"You know what? Good point." Alex took a sip of the tea, and it felt like he could finally breathe a little. Steam was good if absolutely nothing else. "About the magic and about us being adorable. A+ brothering right here."
+
"Fine, I do. But... this is my business. These are my people. You, of all people, understand what that loyalty involves."

"We are the best right, mostly him though, he's the bright happy one, I get to be all deep and broody cause he covers us both." A small grin as Scott set the tea down next to his brother, claiming a seat nearby, "I mean, how bad could it...you know never mind."
+
"I do. I'm not asking for any exposure... just... a little extra help."

"You've had demon invasions. Actual demons. So no magic whoo-whoo, please." Nica was only half joking.
+
"Goddammit, it's my own place and I'm still not allowed to smoke inside." Stacy huffed. "A cigarette would help right now."

"That wasn't a demon, that was just my father-in-law." Alex paused, tilting his head. His eyes were glassy, expression scrunched up. Definitely more of the fever talking. "That was funnier in my head. Sorry."
+
As people finished dinner and dispersed, Darcy slipped over to the table Kevin and Stacy were at, fingers tapping a silent hello on her mentor's shoulder as she came to a stop quietly behind him and waited for a lull in the conversation. "You have your work face on, Boss. Everything okay?"

"I've met him, I'd definitely take a demon invasion over him coming for tea...I hear some of those demons are great conversationalists you know."
+
"Just taking advantage of an old friend for more intel sources. The usual." Kevin said, so flatly that Stacy barked a laugh.

Nica giggled despite herself and her deep distrust of things magical. "Scott, you were here when Magneto was co-headmaster... what were they like, him and the professor?"
+
"At least you're up front about it, you son of a bitch." Stacy shook her head. "I will think about it. My people need to be insulated... not just your word. I need to see real processes in place to make sure anything we pass along doesn't splash back on them. Or my place."

"They were, different, special, it's hard to put into words." The older man leant back, clasped hands pressed against his lip for a moment before he continued slowly, "They were like brothers, but not like us. Alex and I, we're brothers, we're here for one another but they were connected on another level. It's like, they were two stars orbiting around one another for a while. I...don't know if I've ever seen two people more connected with one another, the way things worked out, I think that's one of my biggest regrets."

Alex finished his tea and flopped back on the bed. "Huh. I wondered why Xavier was so chill about him at the wedding. They were like. Soul besties."

Nica smiled at the description. "Heh. Soul besties. I'll have to remember that."

Moment of Awesome - Kevin Sydney/Changeling: Having spent time recuperating at the X-Ranch, Kevin hits up his old friend Stacy X for more.

Kevin had disappeared at some point during that discussion, but she saw him now at dinner, talking intently with Stacy about something. She gave him a grin and wiggle of fingers as she caught his eye, settling at a table with a few of the other book club members, and was soon drawn into a lively conversation with everyone.

Kevin gave her a short wave, but she seemed to be largely drawn into talking with the staff, which was alright. After a couple of days of rest and food, he felt like his old self, and that right back to work. And back to work in this case meant Stacy.

"I do. I'm not asking for any exposure... just... a little extra help."
