XP’s committees are volunteer-led groups that share the work of running the game. Each committee focuses on a specific area:
- Plot & Events: Reviews and supports plot submissions, NPC approval, and game events
- Applications & Player Support: Reviews new character apps, helps with new player onboarding, and supports character development
- Systems & Policy: Maintains docs, tools, rules, and long-term systems (like the wiki, Discord, and policies)
Committees are part of a six-month trial aimed at sharing responsibility, encouraging transparency, and reducing burnout for everyone involved. This trial period shall run from July 2025 - February 2026.

What are the requirements for serving on a committee?
The projected time commitment for serving on a committee is an average of 2-6 hours a week for a three month term. This may be higher during game events, review periods, or if you're leading a workshop. Each committee sets its own meeting/check-in schedule, depending on what method they find most effective.
Most work will happen in private committee Discord channels and require the ability to access and comment through shared Google Docs. To encourage transparency, committees will post public updates in #committee-updates.
As a volunteer position, committee membership is intended to be flexible, with members encouraged to communicate with each other if they need a break or have an upcoming absence.
How do terms work?
Each term lasts 3 months. You can rotate to a different committee after, stay on if needed, or take a break.
Each committee ideally has 3–5 members to keep work balanced.
One coordinator is chosen at the start of each term. This role rotates every 3 months to prevent burnout and power-hoarding.
Where does committee discussion take place?
Committee discussions are held on the X-Project Discord server in the following channels:
- committee-updates (public summary thread for all committees)
- committee-questions (open thread for player inquiries)
As discussion progresses we anticipate opening private channels for Plot & Events, Apps & Support, and Systems & Policy, with the possibility of others as the need arises.
How do I apply?
Simply fill out our Committee Volunteer Form to give us a sense of your schedule and areas of interest.
Where do I find committee documents?
Committee members will be given access to a shared folder of Google Docs. Committee members will be asked to copy forms for their own use.
