Biography

Childhood

Amadeus was born Cho Yi-jeong in Seoul, South Korea. The son of a geneticist mother and concert pianist father, Yi-jeong and his parents moved to Los Angeles, Califonia when he was just a baby. Yi-jeong grew up happy in Pasadena, California, where his mother worked at Cal-Tech and his father had a seat with the Los Angeles Symphony, where they were soon joined by a second child, Seul-gi. To better Americanize their children, Yi-jeong and Seul-gi were given English middle names. Unfortunately it's thanks to their parents’ tastes that they picked Amadeus for Yi-jeong and Madame Curie for Seul-gi.

Amadeus marched to beat of his own drummer, and while an amiable, sweet-natured child he was also entirely precocious and prone to making up elaborate games and schemes solely for his own entertainment. (Like once turning his bedroom into an elaborate rube goldberg device) An above-average student in elementary school, his mutant abilities manifested as he entered sixth grade and he suddenly became a child prodigy. Amadeus remembers his manifestation as "The day everything suddenly made sense." While there were suspicions that the boy was a mutant, and his parents chalked up the sudden advancement in intellect to his school due to the boy simply being "too lazy" before. Amadeus remained with his classmates, taking morning classes at his middle school and high school, and taking advanced college courses at CalTech in the afternoons, in the hopes that keeping Amadeus socialized with his peers would grant him a sense of normalcy.

When he was fifteen, his family came under assault. One night, masked gunman broke into the Cho household and gunned down the entire family in cold blood. Amadeus himself was shot in the head, and somehow survived. He awoke in the hospital two weeks later with only a hazy recollection of the incident and irremovable bullet lodged behind his ear. During his coma, genetic tests proved the boy was a mutant, and Amadeus found himself with the unwanted attention of the government. When he overheard the people sent to retrieve him mention moving him to a "more secure facility" Amadeus made his escape from the hospital.

Getting Caught

Amadeus was apprehended on Manhattan's Lower East Side trying to shoplift some stolen laptops. When some shady government types showed up to collect him at the precinct, he created his special brand of chaos (courtesy of a dented dog whistle that caused the legendary Brown Note) and made his escape.

This however, put him on Xavier's radar, and Angelica Jones, Arthur Centino, and Gabriel Cohuelo, were all sent to retrieve him.

This went as smoothly as one would think.

But after the pepper spray washed out of Gabriel's face and Amadeus was properly fed, he agreed to give Xavier's a try. And thus Amadeus was unleashed upon the mansion. It's still a guess whether or not this was a good idea. But he hasn't blown up anything yet.

Living At The X-Mansion

Introduced into the living situation the way one introduces a moray eel into a tank of goldfish, (one that believes zapping is for funsies) Amadeus was paired with Quentin Quire.

It didn't go so well. Especially when it became apparent Amadeus's nightmares were bleeding out, and the caustic psi managed to flap the ever unflappable Amadeus.

Amadeus also found himself enrolled in Bayville Charter High, which would not let him test out of his math and science classes. The teachers regret that decision every single day of their lives. Amadeus continues to wreck his own brand of havoc, whether declaring himself the king of the deer, inventing a ballistic flash-fry shrimp gun and scarring the hell out of half of the Xavier's staff, or rigging his room into an elaborate rube-goldbergian death trap since ~technically he's got a single~!

Amadeus was able to put his skills to the test during a recent car pileup after a field trip to the Smithsonian, whereupon he was able to perform emergency roadside surgery with help from Topaz and Illyana Rasputin. He then fainted immediately afterwards.

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 145 lbs

Eyes: dark brown

Hair: black

Other Features: adorable smile

Powers

Highly advanced intellect. His mind is built in such a way that he's able to comprehend patterns even at the most basic level, allowing him to understand a variety of languages including computer code and body language, coupled with an intuitive knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and physics and a perfect photographic memory. Unlike Doug, Amadeus will actually have to learn any new languages he comes across, and if he learns them through a book his accent will be horrible. His mind is more geared towards mechanics and mathematics, his brain can make calculations at an inhuman speed, so he would be able to calculate how to throw a grape seed to stop a charging rhino. His gunshot wound has placed a damper on his power, as his brain can “overheat." So Amadeus requires rest periods so he doesn’t overload himself. His brain is essentially a supercomputer. A broken supercomputer with a few wires crossed and a deep love of fried food. It still works, you just have to be mindful of the fan.

He will occasionally have what he calls Fugue states, where he retains no memory of what he is doing, which is due in part the gunshot wound he has in his head. (He will be very proud of his metal plate). Fugue states can last for minutes or hours, and it may involve him drinking a case of redbull and inventing water-resistant denim, playing a videogame for 43 hours straight with no bathroom breaks (he can just “hold it”), or constantly eating the same thing over and over because he has no memory of eating it before.

Equipment

Has a computer system of his own invention named Kirby that's housed in a Nintendo DS shell. It's an extremely advanced supercomputer.

Trivia

Amadeus is the seventh smartest person on the planet.
