Plot Summary
Jessica Jones wakes disoriented, with no memory of recent events, and discovers cryptic notes in her own handwriting that lead her to investigate a man named George Diaz.
Following Diaz, she unexpectedly encounters Jean Grey and Garrison Kane, who are also investigating Diaz due to a rumored Brotherhood of Mutants meeting. At a warehouse trap, Jessica is seized and psychically destabilized by the mutant Phantazia, causing her to lose control and lash out violently. Blink evacuates the shaken Jessica, and David Haller is called in to enter her mind and help.
Inside Jessica’s psyche, Jim uncovers layers of constructed illusions masking deep psychological trauma, revealing that she was kept under telepathic control and abused for nine years by a manipulative predator named Zebediah Killgrave. Together, Jim and Jessica confront and painfully purge the psychic scars, stripping away the false identities imposed on her while preserving her agency.
Emerging exhausted but authentic, Jessica begins the difficult process of reclaiming her true self.
Later, Jim confides in Jean Grey about Jessica’s prolonged mental captivity, and the weight of this revelation overwhelms Jean, who breaks down in the Danger Room, supported quietly by Jim as they share a fragile moment of understanding amid the trauma.
Haller posts his report on what he found in Jessica’s mind and there are many creative punishments for Killgrave proposed. The mansion is also shocked to learn that Jessica is back, and the version they knew was a lie.
