<td valign="top">[[Image:juliosm.png|left]]Son of a Mexican arms dealer, [[Julio Richter]] was a relatively ordinary young man until his earthquake-creating powers made him useful as a weapon to [[Magneto]]. Used to cause a [[The Rictor Effect|massive earthquake and tsunami in San Diego]], Julio was rescued by the [[X-Men]] and brought to the mansion, where his father agreed he would be much safer. Julio blamed himself for San Diego for many years, but gradually learned to control and hone his powers, finding them occasionally useful, such as for [[Jishin Da!| stopping an earthquake that could have destroyed Tokyo]]. He had a relationship with [[Noriko Kikuchi]], until her parents recalled her home to Japan, and eventually, after a stint as an RA, he returned to Mexico when his grandfather fell ill. He remains a largely unrealised potential, a young man with his whole life ahead of him.

Noriko Kikuchi or Nori - as she prefers to be called - was a drug-addicted runaway when she arrived at the school, self medicating in an effort to control the hyperactive state her electrokinetic powers left her in. This, combined with a most un-Japanese slacker attitude, made things difficult at first, but a relationship with Julio Richter and a realisation she could actually rely on people made her gradually begin to cooperate with her fellow New Mutants. A successful completion of her junior year of school prompted her parents to bring her home to Japan - whether this is a successful experiment remains to be seen.
