Details

First appearance: Malibu Madness - William, There Will Be Peace - Elizabeth and James

William Keller A self-made billionaire who grew up around the LA Area, William has made an empire from nothing and was looking forward to passing it on to his son, Julian, before the boy became a mutant. Now, he grooms and trains his other son, James - who has shown no interest in this task - to take over the multinational corporation when he's gone. It's not that he has anything against mutants, it's just that they are bad for business right now. While he does care about both his sons, this cold calculating businessman is more focused on running his empire than maintaining his family. In October 2009 he finally disowned Julian, after increasingly ignoring his existence. Following his abduction and rescue by the X-Men, Julian was reclaimed as part of the family again. In 2014 he was sent to jail for tax evasion and funding terrorist groups.

PB: Richard Jenkins

Elizabeth Keller Julian's mother and trophy wife to William. While she is more sympathetic to her son than her husband, she prefers things to remain simple, thus her reaction to Julian's mutancy was to send him to a counsellor in the hope it would 'go away'.

PB: To be determined

James Keller Julian's younger brother, who supports his sibling but is overwhelmed by his dominant parents.

History

Julian Keller was the first born son of the self-made billionaire William Keller and his trophy wife Elizabeth Keller. In his early life, Julian was doted upon by his father and as soon as he could walk William began to groom him to be his heir. When his younger brother, James, was born, Julian was four. The two became inseparable for the rest of their young life. Growing up in Beverly Hills, Julian and James had every advantage afforded to them from private schools to foreign language tutors.

Family life was good for Julian until he turned thirteen and his powers manifested. He began to be able to move things with his mind and immediately told his parents. While not members of any mutant hate groups, William and Elizabeth didn't have any particular care for mutants and advised their son to keep his abilities quiet. For a while, Julian obeyed his parents and did as they asked, not using his abilities in public. But as he grew older he would practice with his powers in private, moving around his room almost every day - much to his parents' dismay. He turned from favored son to black sheep in the blink of an eye and Elizabeth's reaction was to send him to a counselor to curb his rebelliousness. The counselor enlisted him in a mutant support group and Julian began to learn about the struggles of others like him.

Just after the start of his Junior year, Julian decided that he could no longer live "in-the-closet" and came out as a mutant at school. He was immediately expelled and his parents began looking into reform schools. Julian lost his friends and support networks, the only one who didn't hate him was James- who was being groomed to take over the company in his place and wasn't able to show the support he wanted to. Before William could enroll Julian in a school out in the middle of the Nevada desert, he received a phone call from someone named Charles Xavier and was quickly sold on his private academy in upstate New York. During Julian's time at Xavier's, his reckless spending and acting out caused his father to lose patience with him. A misunderstanding led to Julian being humilated in front of his Xavier's friends when his family 'forgot' they'd invited Julian and his friends to the beach house in Malibu and were instead on vacation in Hawaii. Eventually, relations reached breaking point after Julian bought himself a car for his birthday and his father legally disowned him.

Following the events of There Will Be Peace and reunited with their wayward son, the Keller’s are now staunch, vocal supporters of mutant equality. They insist on helping fund the West Coast Annex of the Xavier Institute as well as bankrolling their son once again. It is made clear that Julian may return home at any time and there is always a place at Keller Industries for him. James is removed from private school- where his abduction took place- and enrolled in public, much to the boy’s dismay.

In August 2014, William Keller was arrested by SHIELD under suspicion of tax evasion and funding terrorist groups. He later plead guilty and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
