The Jetstream Project was a cybernetics program of Shaw Industries, through their subsidiary Wideawake Enterprises. The purpose of the project was to develop workable combat-capable cybernetic enhancements for military use. Although the program never advanced beyond the proposal stage, versions of the cybernetics have appeared on the black market and have been used to augment various mercenary and private security groups such as the Reavers.

The first model of the cybernetics used myomer technology, artificial muscle that could provide a lightweight alternative to bulky prosthetics. The project was given a literal trial by fire when it was used to save the life of Haroun al-Rashid, a mutant whose mutant power of chemokinetic flight nearly killed him upon manifesting, resulting in his entire lower body being replaced with the Jetstream cybernetics.

Later models would perfect the use of myomer, and would surface in the Reavers, as well as the Jetstream Mark III designs, which replaced Haroun's original cybernetics after a devastating accident.

With the purchase of Wideawake Enterprises by Alison Blaire, the Jetstream project has been shelved and all resources have been reallocated to maintenance and upkeep of Haroun's cybernetics.
