Introduction: | X-Men Mission: Weapon X-XXIII |
The Facility was a covert Weapon X program in Alaska that created and conditioned X-23 through cloning, harsh training, and control methods before her eventual escape.
Roster
Dr. Xander Rice | Co-leader of the X-23 Project at the Alaskan Weapon X Facility, responsible for the training, combat conditioning, and soldiering skills of Laura; he prioritizes efficiency and results over empathy, using extreme measures to accelerate her mutation and maintain control over the project.
PB: None

Kimura | Kimura is a 24-year-old mutant who served as X-23’s training partner and handler. Her mutation grants her extreme durability, rendering her resistant to bullets, explosions, and most physical trauma, though she remains vulnerable to adamantium despite further augmentations. Raised in an abusive household, she developed a cruel and domineering personality, later joining the army at 18 and earning a reputation for both bravery and brutality. Recruited by Dr. Rice, she became loyal to the Facility and was tasked with testing Laura in training without restraint. In their last confrontation, Laura injured her severely with adamantium claws, leading to Kimura’s hospitalization and Laura’s escape; upon recovery, Kimura was reassigned to track her down.

Former Members
Dr. Sarah Kinney | Lead scientist and surrogate “mother” at the Alaskan Weapon X Facility, responsible for the care, education, and early development of X-23; she championed the successful birth of the clone, opposed extreme methods, and ultimately risked everything to help Laura escape the Facility and gain her freedom.
Sarah later went to the Muir Island Research Facility to research how to cure the trigger scent from being used on Laura. PB: None

Laura Kinney – X-23 | A Weapon X clone created at an Alaskan Facility, trained from early childhood in combat, espionage, and discipline under Dr. Kinney and Dr. Rice, forcibly mutated with adamantium claws, and conditioned with a trigger scent; she eventually escaped the Facility to gain a life and identity beyond her creation.

Details
The Facility was a covert Weapon X installation in Alaska responsible for the creation of X-23. Following 22 failed cloning attempts, Dr. Sarah Kinney successfully carried a viable embryo to term, producing Laura, who was raised and trained under strict oversight. Dr. Kinney managed her care and education, while Dr. Zander Rice oversaw her combat training and conditioning, including the forced triggering of her mutation and the painful bonding of adamantium to her claws. The Facility employed handlers such as Kimura to test and control Laura, often through brutality and the use of a “trigger scent” designed to turn her into a weapon on command. Though Laura eventually escaped, The Facility remains a persistent threat, continuing its pursuit of Laura after her defection.
The Facility actively pursued Laura into rural Nebraska, orchestrating ambushes, surveillance, and the deployment of armed operatives to capture or subdue her, including attempts to trigger her berserker state in the field. Despite these operations, Laura and Dr. Kinney ultimately evaded recapture, aided by intervention from the X-Men.
Kimura next ambushed Laura during a school prom, resulting in a violent confrontation that drew in Gaia and Liam. Although Kimura initially gained the upper hand, Laura and her allies were able to wound and drive her off, leaving behind evidence captured for later analysis.
