Located on Muir Island, Kinross Estates, which is located off the coast of Cape Wrath. Nearest town is Durness, Scotland. Currently the only means of accessing Muir is by boat or via an aircraft.

Location
Muir is a couple of acres of land with an incredibly small beach that has a boat landing dock. Most of the sides of Muir are cliffs that lead directly into the sea and can be a bit hazardous during the fog. Lights have been installed where possible to lower the possibility of someone wandering off and disappearing. Very little actually grows on the island with the exception of grass and a few trees due to the sometimes harsh storms that occur.
On the other end of Muir rests the remains of the original Kinross Castle, burned down a great many years ago. The front half of the ruins are perfectly safe but the back half tends to allow for accidents that involve falling down the cliffs. These have been roped off for safety.
The graves of Lord and Lady Kinross and Kevin MacTaggart reside near there as well, amid a family plot that has several of the Kinross’ graves.
Layout
The facilities themselves are housed in what used to be the Kinross Castle, with a great deal of modifications done. The upper floors house the staff that wish to live on the island and provide temporary housing for staff who live on the main land but get stuck overnight, either due to weather or duty. There are also guest suites for families of the patients, to ensure that they are comfortable if the stay is a long one. Currently, there is no family in residence but most of the staff do live on the island, including Connors and his wife and children.
This is also where the kitchen and dining room are and they have an excellent cooking staff.

General Information
The work done at Muir Island is facilitated by the Kinross estate. Moira has investments that feed into the funds as well. They do accept and use donations. Most of the work is pro bono but if a patient feels like that can/want to pay, then they do. Also, for those mutants looking for simple room and board and help smoothing out their powers, they, unless it is not affordable by them, pay for food and board. Those who can be are normally referred to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
