Shiro Yoshida: Proud Japanese national, Shiro was taught by his uncle to resent the U.S. for the hurts Japan had suffered during WW2. Being sent to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngstersfor powers training was almost an indignity too great to bear, however, despite himself (and his family's Yakuza connections), he found himself making friends such as roomie Alex Summers, with whom he would have a tumultuous, sometimes sexual, relationship. Over the years, Shiro endured being disowned by his family, drug addiction, personal doubts and an almost pathological fear of his bisexuality. All of this built up over time, until the catalyst of his sister's manifestation of the same powers he possessed, the same powers he felt had ruined his life. Coupled with manipulation by long-term enemies the Hand, Shiro literally lost his mind and almost destroyed Tokyo before the X-Men and Jean-Paul Beaubier stopped him. On Charles Xavier's advice, he went to Muir Island for long-term psychological and powers therapy. Shiro has been through a lot in his life - where it leaves him is yet to be determined. Who will he be when he has the chance the start again?
