Shinobi Shaw: Wayward son of the Hellfire Club's Black King, Sebastian Shaw, Shinobi was raised to a life of privelege and power, but little in the way of any kind of love or nurturing. Rebelling against his strict disciplinarian father, Shinobi was 'convinced' to assist Emma Frost and Manuel de la Rocha escape from a Spanish insane asylum owned by his father, in return for safe haven. Brought to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, he encountered opportunities - and a completely different moral code - that had never been offered to him before and he eagerly accepted them, becoming a teacher and mentor to the more difficult students like Amanda Sefton, Manuel and Angelo Espinosa, joining the X-Men under the name "Phase" and falling in love with self-professed monster Sarah Morlocke. There were conflicts however, largely due to his own malleable ethical code and his unquestioning devotion to Sarah and realising that he wasn't quite ready to be a hero yet either, he returned to Japan, joined shortly later by Sarah. She resurfaced - alone - and joined X-Force. Shinobi remains in Japan, building his own business and looking to the day he returns to the States on his own terms to challenge his father.
