David North is a normal everyday white-collar worker, until suppressed memories start emerging, and he remembers his life as a secret agent. Confronted with one of his most formidable enemies, he seeks out the X-Men for help.

Plot Summary
During his normal daily routine as a benefits administrator for Initech Management, David North begins having disturbing, violent thoughts of mayhem and murder. Feeling detached from his life, something drives him to walk out of his work and go back to his apartment, confused as to why he is only recently realizing that there are blank spots in his memory covering nearly a decade.
Arriving at his apartment, David meets Arkady Rossovich, the Russian killer dubbed 'Omega Red'. Not recognizing him, but feeling a sense of danger, North bolts, relying on instinct and half-remembered tradecraft to hide his tracks. Slowly his memories come back, and he remembers Logan. Using his old skills, he manages to trace Logan's trail to the school, and calls to ask for asylum.
After receiving the call, Alison arranges for North to be taken to a safehouse and prepares a team to meet him via the Blackbird. Betsy is sent to pick him up in a car, and unbeknownst to them, Arkady manages to follow them to the safehouse. While awaiting the rest of the team, Betsy uses her psychic knife to tear away the rest of the conditioning locking away North's memories. The experience is painful and traumatic, interrupted by a phone call from Arkady, who is already in the house.
The X-Men arrive, with Colossus, Jetstream, and Juggernaut storming the house to take out Arkady. However, when it is discovered that Omega Red secretes a poisonous spore, it becomes evident that any contact with him is a death sentence. While in combat, Arkady manages to best Jetstream, exposing him to the death spore and completely tearing off one of his cybernetic legs, nearly beating him to death.
As Dazzler calls for a retreat, Juggernaut carries Jetstream to safety while Colossus holds off the maddened Arkady until David North, memories suddenly whole, interrupts and engages Omega Red in hand-to-hand combat. Once the X-Men are safely away from the house, David lights a broken gas main, destroying the safehouse in a massive explosion.
Neither Arkady Rossovich or David North have been seen since the destruction of the safehouse. However, during the treatment of Jetstream's injuries, North contacted the school with instructions of how to kill off the spore infecting his body.

Trivia
North remembered Logan as "Jim Logan". Whether this is Logan's real name or not remains unclear, as are the details of North's association with Logan.
Meta
Despite being referred to in canon as "Maverick", David North was never referred to by that name in this plot.
This plot still occurred in Phase 2, but specifics, such as which characters were involved, remain fuzzy for the purposes of not breaking the world. ;)
