"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong," Sarah muttered as they rushed toward the door to the basement. She had abandoned her pressed white uniform coat back in the security room, it would only get in the way for what they needed to do. In her right hand was a bone pulled from her shoulder, blunt and bloody. "Maybe next time we should do the hard way first, just to save time." Darcy let out a soft snort of agreement, finally managing to get one of the weapons hidden in her dress free. The blade was a small, unassuming thing, not long enough to kill on its own... but it didn't need to, not with the thin channel of poison that ran down the middle, only able to be released with the slide of a discreet section on the hilt. "I liked this gown," she murmured quietly, giving the tatters hanging from knee to hem - ripped to enable quicker movement - a mournful look. She wasn't the only one who had liked the gown either. "Next time maybe I'll play staff so my pretty stuff doesn't get taken or ruined." She slowed as they got closer to the known grouping of guards. "How do you want to tackle this? Up close isn't my best thing, but I can follow your lead. I'm not without tricks to make them regret touching us, at least." "I can go in hot. If we can get them to underestimate you, we can use that to our advantage." She wished the guards were on the inside of this door-- it would have attracted less attention-- but that didn't matter now. If they didn't get to that switch, everyone was fucked. "Take out the guards, find the key, save our asses." Sarah rushed forward then, hoping to take as much attention off Darcy as possible. She swung at the head of one guard, who dodged back and into another guard behind them. Darcy slipped to the side as Sarah went in swinging, grappling with a third guard. They got an arm around her neck, but a few grunts and twists later she'd pulled them forward with her, left leg behind them and knife sliding through pants into soft skin. Her thumb slid up the hilt of the knife enough to deliver a few drops of the poison before sliding back and out, right hand still keeping a firm grip on the arm around her neck. She dropped the knife behind her and swung upward with her now free hand, channeling a taser's worth of voltage - split between her hands - into the groin and forearm of the guard, keeping both hands pressed tightly against flesh and clothing until they slumped to the ground, muscles twitching erratically. Her knife got stowed carefully back into the sheath sewn into her dress before she started rifling through the guard's pockets and taking anything that looked remotely useful before stepping clear to join Sarah. "No key on this one." "Damn," Sarah grunted, ramming with a bony shoulder into a guard's midsection. Another guard lay slumped against the wall and bleeding from the temple. Not dead, but Sarah suspected that concussion was going to make it difficult for him to follow if he came to. She heard the guard above her pull something from a holster she hadn't noticed before, and jammed the bone hard against his kneecap. The knee hyperextended under the force of the blow, and the shot flew wide. "Heads up!" she called, and rolled out of the way. Today in XProject: August 25 PHASE 2 2015: Maya texts Wade asking to pay him back. Jubilee complains about jet lag. Lorna texts Alex to ask about his moms and if he liked his surfboard. Rahne asks if anyone knows a good church nearby. Clint emails Kyle, Doug, Namor, Molly, Billy, Matt, Laurie, Felicia, Angel, Gabriel, and Wanda about Shark Weekend (SHWEEKEND) and a game night. 2016: Darcy announces that the new Star Trek makeup collection by MAC is out. Doug sends an email to Laurie, Wade and Marie-Ange regarding a weekend getaway and forgotten birthdays. Alison asks for some powers help via the journal to see if she can make herself invisible and Susan offers to help with practice. 2017: Maya shares the new Taylor Swift single. Green-Eyed Monster: Alex realises that all of those who have gotten sick had been to a tourist place, street fair or bodega recently. 2018: Morningstar: Bobbi and Warren reminisce on their relationship and make some plans for the future. 2019: Alex texts the X-Factor team to get an update on their packing for the team vacation. 2020: 2021: 2022: Operation: Kefauver: The party crashers set their plan into action - Doug and Emma get in with an HFC invitation; Marie-Ange and Topaz pull some shenanigans to get access to the back room and plant a tap; Kevin uses the tap to compromise security, and give Felicia and Sarah a way in; a meeting between the Maggia family heads go poorly. Kyle posts about NEEDING a new game. 2023: Jubilee posts a dance video and asks if anyone will learn the dance with her. Shatterstar and Haller talk about Haller having met Benjamin. Haller gets a front-row seat to April's twinned self-image while he questions her during parkour. Liam meets Jess and Jess' bottle of liquor, no one in the situation is impressed. While Topaz is packing, Sharon S. drops in to meet Midnight and her. 2024: X-Men Mission: Or Is He Both?: The X-Men have a meeting concerning the emails that were received and decide to investigate. PHASE 1 2003: Doug Ramsey arrives at the school. Scott calls Betsy and their not-relationship progresses. 2004: Cecilia has a small wiggins when Nathan answers an unspoken thought and Scott talks her down. Jean-Paul and Nathan go rock climbing. Madelyn talks over future medical career options with Clarice. Blaze of Glory: Shiro, Alex and Leyu return to the mansion and Shiro talks to Charles about letting Leyu stay now they are both disowned. Cain finishes renovations to the residential wing. 2005: 2006: Operation: Body Snatchers: Snow Valley takes down the mutant smuggling ring but lose the ringleaders. 2007: Marius and Kyle make plans for Marius to 'borrow' Kyle's powers for training. Laurie confuses Kyle by comparing him to Oz from Buffy and there are comments about his toes. Amanda apologises for locking Cain out. Terry and Bobby's wedding and Clarice helps her get ready; Crystal and Angelo chat about drinking ages. 2008: Time After Time: Angel is on genius-feeding duty; Ben Russell is nearly pulled back to his own world as the universe tries to reassert itself, but Angel somehow manages to use her powers to stop it; Forge is not impressed by the fire damage to his lab. Xbalanque: Julio awakens with no memory of the past two days and is disturbed by what Terry tells him happened; the group finally leaves, glad to forget the whole experience; Julio announces his experience on the journals upon arriving home. Karolina returns from LA, disgruntled and unhappy to be back at school; a new roommate does not make things better. 2009: Victor posts about the pros and cons of being in Malibu. Jean-Paul emails Scott and Jeanne-Marie asking them to talk him out of flying to Malibu to chaperone the students. Malibu Madness: Doreen visits her mom and brother before the court case and is disheartened by her brother's attitude; her mother's lawyer preps Doreen for the court case which makes her realize her father's true feelings about her; Nick and Catseye meet in Julian's boathouse and they have a productive discussion about alleviating the awkwardness between them which culminates in Catseye admitting to being attracted to Nick; Doreen is put through some uncomfortable questions at her mental fitness hearing; after the hearing she runs into Catseye and discusses her feelings about her dad; Doreen accepts a challenge from some old bullying enemies to a beach volleyball match; the New Mutants face off against the bullies on the beach and have a come-from-behind victory; Victor, Meggan, and Catseye catch some lobsters for dinner while on a snorkelling tour; Johnny comforts Dori about her father when he follows her to her old family beachhouse. Doug posts a response to learning about a Cockney ATM Machine. 2010: Janet shares her excitement with everyone about finally becoming a senior. Crystal sends Jean-Paul an email to thank him for standing up for her and to express her disappointment with Jared's comments regarding her flight methods. Laurie runs across Remy while waiting for her father and has a rather frank talk with him about his childhood. 2011: Operation: Dasavatharam: Amanda works on finding out who is behind everything while Remy and Ororo have fun with explosions; Amanda and Wanda fight the cultist with the ring and Amanda is stabbed in the shoulder while Wanda's face is sliced open with the stolen ring. Wanda posts to x_snowvalley about the Chthon Cult, the fact that the ring was destroyed and that Agatha has left. Amanda and Wanda debrief with Remy; Amanda posts about how she can't sleep or the concussion will get her on x_grads. Jubilee, Doug and Adrienne meet up at the stoner bakery and awkward conversation about Garrison, Marie-Ange and Vanessa's disappearance ensues. 2012: Jubliee texts Kurt to meet her in front of the mansion around noon. X-Men Mission: Joyful Noixe: Kurt and Sam talk to the concert coordinators, Benni and Guido, about the events for the next couple of days, Scott, Dori and Monkey Joe meet Big Bertha get the security details; Lorna and Angel patrol the concert and talk; Kyle and Dori have a quick cute moment during some brief down time during their patrolling; Scott checks on Kurt, who admits he is still hurt from the last Purifiers encounter. Maddie posts that the soccer team she wanted to play for wouldn’t allow her to play because she is a mutant and would cause an unfair advantage, also that Neil Armstrong has died. Adrienne and Tandy sit down for lunch at a diner after visiting with Alice, Tandy's friend who was put into a coma the day that Tandy's powers emerged. 2013: Scott posts to his journal to be a party pooper and to remind everybody school’s starting soon. 2014: Fred posts a message assuring everyone he is still alive and ok, he then sends Jean a text thanking her for helping and apologizing for having to go into his head. Jennie stops by the medlab to help Marius and the two of them talk. Jean and Marius try to use the fleshcrafting powers on Scott’s eyes and manage to regenerate both the eye the Fury destroyed and the eye which was destroyed years ago.
