Moment of Awesome - Kevin MacTaggert/Proteus: Kevin connects with Davey as they color together. "Oh. You're from . . . somewhere else." Davey scrunched his face with the agony of third-hand memory. It wasn't really like talking to Jack, more remembering something he'd forgotten. "Okay, I think I got it now. We knew each other there, right?" Kevin nodded. "Ye were the only person who wis ever nice." "Yeah, that sounds like me," said Davey, brightening. If this man thought he was acting like himself again it meant he knew Davey, not Jim. How often did that happen? He leaned forward, suddenly eager. "Okay! So what happens is, sometimes I don't remember stuff I should?" Davey folded down the excess paper, creasing it away from the triangle. He tried not to sound too excited. "It's annoying, but I do okay if people help me. Like now, I basically remember you, but not your name. Remind me?" "Kevin." He said with some finality. "Apparently everythin has a name? But a didny until ye told me." Davey nodded. "Yeah, that sounds like me. David's a know-it-all." He paused to tear the rest of the paper from the triangle, then jerked his head up, suddenly inspired. "Hey, what about Kev?" Kevin made a soft noise that might have been a question as he leaned back over the paper to carefully add more color to his drawing. "Whit's that?" The alter opened the paper and pressed it against the floor, making a series of quick creases and folds. "It's a nickname. Like, there's names your family gives you, and then there's names your friends give you. Or names you give yourself because you like them better, I guess. Davey's a nickname for David, technically. Anyway, I don't have to if you don't like it," he added hastily, "I just thought maybe it could be a thing for us, because we're friends?" Kevin’s chest felt warm and a real genuine smile free from any sort of predatory grimace spread across his face. “Yeah. I like that.” "Yeah?" Despite his determination to be the Cool One Davey's face split in a grin. Practically all his life people had been judging him by how different he was from Jim and the others before they even really got to know him, but Kevin didn't seem to care. In fact he seemed to like Davey better. It was a thrill. The weird, dull ache in his chest told him getting a smile out of Kevin was, too. "Okay, then I'm calling you Kev. And I got our first project, too." Davey made a few final folds to the printer paper and held it up to Kevin. It was a simple paper frog. Kevin's eyes lit up. "Whit...whit color are they outside?" "Oh, they can be lots. I can find some on my phone so you can see, but really they can be any color you want, actually. Because what I'm going to do is I'm going to make a lot and we're gonna make all of them jump--" Davey pressed down on the frog's hindquarters with an index finger; it did more of a back-flip than a leap, but his point was proven "--and we turn it into a contest to see which one does it the best. Like a bracket? We test two frogs at a time and the winner goes up against the next winner. But I need you to color them so we can tell them apart. Wanna try?" He picked up the frog and held it out to Kevin, an offering. If anything Kevin's smile grew, splitting his face almost uncomfortably wide. "Yeah...is this....is this play? A never got tae dae that before." "Well, you're gonna be doing it a lot now," Davey declared matter-of-factly. He handed the frog to Kevin and grabbed another sheet of paper, beaming. "Later I'll show you how to throw knives." Today in XProject: November 10 PHASE 2 2015: Darcy asks about the mansion’s Thanksgiving meal. 2016: 2017: Jean and Haller train on the astral plane. 2018: 2019: 2020: Time Stand Still: An odd group of mutants arrives at the gates of the mansion, telling Sooraya they’re from the future and they’re there to stop something bad; while they’re waiting for someone in charge to appear, one of the strangers reveals she looks a lot like Kurt and calls Amanda “auntie”; Doug and Emma question half the group while Jean and Topaz do the same and it appears they’re telling the truth, that they’re there to stop Topaz from their future from destroying the mansion; Doug discovers one of the newcomers is his and Marie-Ange’s daughter, by way of Wade; a strange conversation between Marie-Ange, Doug and Ellie follows; Darcy is confused about the sudden appearance of children; Amanda’s ‘niece’ stops her after the briefing to apologise for the earlier scene and reveals her name is Talia and she’s the daughter of Kurt and Wanda; Kyle acts as a punching bag and a listening ear for Topaz; Topaz and Amanda talk about the discovery there’s a version of her that has gone bad, and what to do about it. 2021: Gabriel offers to take up the slack in X-Force work while everyone is occupied. The Color of Horror: Megan asks for everyone to bring their ragoni supplies to the chapel so the spell can be cast. 2022: Forge buys a vending machine for the eXcalibur chapel. Hope asks Sue about going dancing for their next date. 2023: Haller goes to talk to Beatrice before leaving for Oregon and lay down rules for her safety. In a hilarious turn of events, Arthur also visits Beatrice to deliver snacks and warn that he'll be away. A Haven to Call Home: Still in quarantine, Alex finally regains consciousness and chats with Nica and Scott; Jean-Phillipe texts Marie-Ange to request some soothing herbs as Scott tempts fate. 2024: Madin emails Sam to let him know they're dating Mel and asking about Thanksgiving customs. Paige emails Sam to let him know she likes Jono and asking for advice. PHASE 1 2003: Shiro is picked up and brought to the school. 2004: Miles gets more control over his powers. Hand Me Down: Jamie is hallucinating and goes for a check up. Madelyn breaks down. 2005: Fear Itself: Dani admits to Forge she is having problems with her powers again; Dani projects Manuel's worst fear when they are making out and when she talks to Forge about it, he is angry about her sleeping with Manuel. Forge is angry about being 'left' with Magneto. Stoker and Stalkers: Haroun tries to talk about his new 'ware with Kitty but she's distracted and vague; Jono comes across Kitty sleep walking. Lost In The Woods: Remy announces he is going to go get Amanda back and Lorna tries to talk him out of it. Bobby rejoins the mansion at large. Marius meets Rachel and their powers interact badly. Mommy Dearest: Kurt asks for some leave to go back to Germany to talk to Margali. 2006: Jono Starsmore and Kevin Ford have a mishap playing soccer, resulting in Jono being in medlab. Garrison introduces himself on the journals. Angelo passes onto Marie a letter from her adoptive parents, inviting her home for Thanksgiving. 2007: Tabitha offers people pomegranates. Karma Police: Domino emails Nathan, announcing her intention to visit. Angelo complains about not being allowed to smoke after his space-related lung damage; Laurie checks on him and they discuss why he smokes. Scott is released from medlab. 2008: Remy and Jubilee discuss her going to see Sofia more often. Morgan contacts her old mercenary group to let them know she wants to come 'home'. Charles emails Forge to let him know he is on probation for revealing confidential information about Morgan on the journals and Forge requests a meeting. Morgan lets Charles know she is leaving the mansion. Shiro challenges Jean-Paul to a flying race to welcome him back. Adrienne asks Forge for a personal supply of the specialised skin lotion he invented for Garrison and Marie. Mark and Scott train together and discuss decisions in the field. 2009: Yvette and Logan teach Laurie a little about stealth. 2010: Amanda and Wanda talk about finding Nico's parents and about the waiting game. There Will Be Peace: Julian gets a mysterious letter that appears to be in code. 2011: Sons of Liberty: Before leaving for California, Kane makes a stop at the Brownstone to speak to Bucky Barnes; Kane e-mails Jean and Kyle to see if they want to accompany him to California to investigate a case. Adrienne stops by Vanessa's apartment to find a squad of men doing work. 2012: Yvette starts a recruiting drive for Red X and creates some interest from inhabitants of the mansion. Korvus and Matt go to a rock concert. 2013: 2014: Laurie posts about the perfect Christmas present for Doug and Wade. Julian texts Tandy about hanging out and gets no response. Tandy texts Adrienne telling her not to let anyone into the suite except Sue.
